i also know TWE are good, but i have not ordered from them due to shipping issues...

Thanks Tim,
Have you tried the older HPs? They're definitely more smoky than the younger bottlings. Of course, there are other factor$ preventing an HP 25 year from becoming a daily dram. :-)

I have had VERY good experiences ordering from Loch Fyne Whiskies and The Whisky Exchange (links on my Resources tab). I've also heard good things about Royal Mile Whiskies, Master of Malt, and Single Malts Direct.

Thanks James,
I was definitely torn when it came to opening it. Part of me definitely wanted to order two bottles and stock one away.

With just a single bottle, though, I can't help but to open it. I have a 401k that will hopefully gain in value over the long haul. Meanwhile, how could I get a bottling like this in my hands and never know what it tastes like?!

Funny on the Dalmore...I took a video of my unboxing of the new Dalmore 12 year packaging and posted it to youtube. I know it's supposed to be all about the spirit, but the great packaging of many of these whiskies is a bonus for us whisky geeks.

Yes, I'm sure you're quite busy these days. I hope everything is going well with the baby.

It's very different from the 18 year, but this Magnus is definitely a worth-while addition. Looking forward to getting your thoughts on it!

Cheers,
Jeff

Nicely written - and great build up. I wish HP was a tad smokier on the whole - that would truly make it more of a daily dram for me - but would also probably limit it's "all-rounder" appeal that it's so well known for.

I'm very curious about this one, however - and I may be doing an order from the UK to get my hands on a bottle (along with a CS Caol Ila, the First Edition Laphroaig CS, and some other cool things).

What's your preferred UK source for stuff?

BTW: congrats for having the fortitude to open her up and not just drool over her attire!
