I did say the sherry/fruit smell wasn't very strong. Also, I wouldn't put too much faith in my notes from these tastings. It's not the most controlled environment. :-)

The price is the reason I don't have a bottle. It sounds like it's a little bit less expensive there, though.

I hope you do enjoy it (perhaps even more with time), and it's good to have an idea what Campbelltown, Scotland has to offer.

Thanks for offering your thoughts!

I've not had the 15 - it's sure to be a treat, however. I've had a couple of other Springbanks & Longrows, and have the 15 on my wishlist

Hi Tim,
I definitely want to try it again. I don't completely trust my reactions at these tastings.

For one thing, they were using pretty big glasses, and it was a tiny pour of 10/100. Maybe that's why I had to try so hard to pick up anything on the nose.

Also, I want to point out that I DID like it. It just didn't have the pop that I was looking for, or at least that was my impression with the small taste that I had.

Thanks for the relating your experience. I'll definitely plan on giving the 10/100 another shot. Although, if I find the 15 on sale, I'll probably grab that one first.

Hmmmm... you and I seem to have pretty similar tastes, and I'd consider the Springbank 10/100 to be among my faves - even at the higher prices (easily found around $50-ish online, however).

I find it to be among the most complex, rich and fulfilling of any of the non-peated type whisky I've had. Sure - it has no peat, modest (if any, really) smoke, but WOW - what a range of flavors, never the same thing twice, IMHO. Very rewarding dram. I do prefer the Longrow CV the most out of their expressions (even over the LR 10/100), but I'd easily put the SP 10/100 as my #2 out of the region...

Try it again sometime - or better yet grab a whole bottle. I'd be shocked if it doesn't become one of the few non-peated Whiskies you feel compelled to keep around!

In fact, I think I'll go have some now!!!

Sorry we missed it! It sounds like you had a horrible time without us. :) Let me know when the next one is, and this time, I'll be sure and put it in my phone. We had a bit of a crazy weekend with family and coming and going.
