I definitely agree with that on a certain level. When reading reviews, I tend to break them down to more of an A, B, C scale in my head…not paying too much attention to whether it was an 87 or an 88, for example.

On the other hand, in a direct comparison, I do appreciate having some way of distinguishing preferences. If I had felt that all three of these were worthy of a B, I’d still feel inclined to specify further my order of preference.

I do really like PA 17. The only problem with it is relative cost to buying a Caol Ila 12 or the Signatory CI 14, due to shipping costs. It would be great if Specialty Drinks figures out a distribution mechanism to get these shipped to the United States sometime.

This makes the scale more coarse so that you’re not trying to comprehend the difference between an 87 and an 88. It is also intuitive since we are all familiar with it from past school days.
